Thor Returns

Thor has been very busy,
as busy as a bee.
He’s now involved in government,
the ambassador to Turkey.

He feels that he’s safe,
wherever he goes.
Only Canada celebrates Thanksgiving too,
as everybody knows.

But with a Presidential pardon,
and working for the government.
Thor feel that his future,
is as solid as cement.

But I have news for him,
a pardon can be revoked.
If the President gets upset,
and, for any reason, is provoked.

Thor is getting lonely,
so far away from home.
There are no other turkeys,
he’s distraught and all alone.

His days are very boring,
he needs a change of life.
Maybe he should come home,
and find himself a wife.

He buys himself a ticket,
that’s only good one-way.
When he gets home,
maybe he’ll want to stay.

But now his troubles begin,
because he’s abandoned the embassy.
And the FBI & CIA is looking for him,
behind every rock and tree.

Now the President is involved,
as you knew that he would be.
The President reverses his pardon,
now Thor’s life is in jeopardy.

He cannot turn to union friends,
to help out of this mess.
The day is quickly approaching,
just as you might guess.

His only hope will be to flee,
to avoid the chopping block.
His time is running short,
again, maybe he can beat the clock.

He has a friend to help him,
get out of the country soon.
And if all comes to pass,
he’ll be gone before noon.

No one told him where he was going,
they just promised to help him out.
He was glad to have some help,
and he believed without a doubt.

At least he knew he’d save his neck,
and not be someone’s dinner.
This was better than losing his head,
once again, he felt like a winner.

WHERE DID THOR GO? WHO HELPED HIM? AND WILL HE BE SAFE?

Full of Thanks

Thanksgiving was a harvest celebration,
for health & an abundant crop.
But as the world changes all holidays,
harvest celebration has come to a stop.

What are we really thankful for?
We should give thanks everyday.
How do we count every blessing,
in everything & in every way?

The world calls it “Turkey Day,”
and football takes center stage.
But is that all we are thankful for?
Listen, while I turn the page.

The Friday after Thanksgiving,
has become one of the biggest of the year.
Black Friday begins Christmas shopping,
& manufacturers wait in fear.

They want the day to show promise,
and not end up in the red.
They are only concerned with profits,
with a Christmas season ahead.

But still, I return to the reason,
we celebrate Thanksgiving day.
God is rich in mercy & grace,
what more do I need to say?

A day of celebration with family & friends,
the blessings we are able to share.
Because God provides everything we need,
when we live & abide in his care.

Let’s forget about Black Friday,
and concentrate on the day at hand.
Thank the Lord for the blessings we have,
all across this wonderful land.

Veterans Day: Salute to Our Soldiers

A time to honor,
Veteran’s Day pride and true.
For all who fought,
for the Red, White, & Blue.

A time to remember,
a time to care.
A time to thank God,
we came home from there.

War just goes on & on,
I wonder if it will ever cease.
And all over soldiers are safe and sound,
and the world would be at peace.

But peace can only come for man,
when we let God be in control.
And blend our heart & mind in Him,
and His angels on patrol.

God, the only true and lasting One,
Who is never wrong in anything.
He is perfection, peace, and love,
after all, He is God & King.

Celebration Will Last: 4th of July

Fireworks galore,
and people want more.
Happiness to never end,
possible, my friend?

Always the same date,
this country uses to celebrate.
Do you want to know,
how this could be so?

239 years from its start,
but not with the same heart.
Listen for a while,
as I check history’s file.

Birthed with a God-fearing love,
as God watched down from above.
On election day,
they went to church to pray.

Happy with freedom in hand,
celebrating this new land.
Looking forward to future bright,
finally finished with every fight.

But finished we couldn’t truly be,
even though this country was free.
We were still fighting a war,
which eventually divided our core.

This country still believed in prayer,
and lived under God’s care.
This country will only survive,
by keeping God alive.

So bring your roots to God alone,
and when you’re finally home,
celebration will last for eternity,
for all the faithful- you and me.

Father’s Day: My Heavenly Father

I know that I’d never win,
an award for father of the year,
because when it came to that,
I turned and ran in fear.

Just the thoughts about responsibilities,
and decisions about right & wrong,
made me wonder if this part of life,
is truly where I might belong.

I don’t know all the answers,
and have not wisdom to guide.
Unless it’s my Heavenly Father,
in whom I trust and abide.

God, the Creator of all Life,
has placed a child into my care.
I’m not alone in all I do,
I have a wife with whom I share.

When we honor our father,
we honor our one on Earth.
We thank him for being there,
as we begin to live from birth.

He is limited in what he can do,
unless He’s made the Choice.
He serves our Father up in Heaven,
through prayer and a worshiping voice.

God, the Father, is watching us,
and only He is always there.
From our first step to our last,
we are never out of His care.

God wants only the best for us,
and truly, our earthly father may.
But only God is perfect in everything,
and never changes from day to day.

So when we put our trust in Him,
and let Him be our only Source.
Our ship might hit some times of storm,
but it will never be knocked off course.

So Father, I thank you for every prayer,
offered up for me each and every night.
Because now my life is different,
I walk with my Father in light.

Even though you’ve made mistakes,
in decisions you have had to do.
I’m so glad that I am able,
to wish Happy Father’s Day to You!

Memorial Day: The Last Monday in May

A day of tribute, honor, & prayer,
to all those who left something there.
Not only those who gave it all,
but also those who saw one fall.

Those who were there and lost a friend,
have a memory that will never end.
Not only today, but everyday,
they take time to stop and pray.

War is tragedy that you can’t explain,
nobody knows who is to blame.
The price we pay is way too high,
especially when we say good-bye.

Nobody in war ever dies alone,
on the field, or here at home.
The military knocks at your door,
“I’m sorry, another casualty of war.”

What will ever pay the cost,
for the family that has suffered loss.
When all is given for this nation,
will a medal or citation.

The scars of war are not on the skin,
instead, the heart buried deep within.
Nothing anyone wants to talks about,
never able to pour it out.

We’re never the same as before,
for war cripples our very core.
We may come back in on piece,
but our memories will never cease.

So, for this Monday in the month of May,
take time to reflect and time to pray.
Remembering those who answered freedom’s call,
all gave some, some gave all.

Yet, in the midst of all this despair,
when the world is so unfair.
I find hope for life in only One,
and that is God’s very Son.

He’s the One who cares for me,
without Him, I wouldn’t be.
There’s nothing greater than His Grace,
He’s always there, whatever I face.

So trust Him in all you do,
He will always see you through.
He’ll never allow what you can’t bear,
He’ll shelter you in His Loving Care.

(This poem was originally published in 2014, but due to its popularity, we brought it back this year.)

Happy Mothers Day!

To the Mother of our two children,
both mothers of their own.
May the joys of motherhood always bring,
peace & love so you’re never alone.

What a treasure is each blessed gift,
coming down from the Father above.
Trusted by the One that knows your heart,
to nurture, care, & raise with love.

Every Mother is special & unique,
and equipped with a different trait.
God chose you because He knows you best,
and knows you are a Mother with faith.

You allow the Holy Spirit to flow,
you faithfully lift your children in prayer.
Everything they face in life,
you always try to be there.

You cared for family in more ways than one,
a loving mother & devoted wife.
You gave to everyone: so, so much,
putting family first in your life.

So for this Mothers Day,
may God bless and honor you.
Reward your heart of faithfulness,
in everything you do.
