Welcome to the World, Ella!

This poem is dedicated to my new granddaughter, Ella Vivian Goodman!

Welcome to this world,
there’s no turning back.
I know it was safe and cozy,
but now you join the grandchildren pack.

We prayed for you from when we heard,
and we will continue, now that you’re here.
You are a blessing & a surprise,
and a high point for this year.

The name Ella Vivian Goodman,
has such a pretty flow.
It will be a name remembered,
wherever you will go.

I know you’ll be a computer whiz,
by the time you reach age one.
Mommy & Jared will make sure,
that all is said and done.

Maybe your big brother,
can get you on TV.
He has some pull with people,
he’s kind of a celebrity.

May you always find God’s blessing,
in everything & everywhere.
May you always be protected,
and nurtured in His care.

Welcome to the world, Ella!

Happy Birthday Eric!

This poem is dedicated to my grandson, Eric.

What a change in life,
happens in your teens.
Let me tell you what,
that change in life means.

You are no longer a kid,
but now a young adult.
The way that plays out,
can cause a great result.

You have more responsibilities,
and to you, that might seem unfair.
But now it’s that time in life,
to find out what’s really there.

Your birthday is designed,
for a day of happy fun.
You will likely be exhausted,
when this day is finally done.

Your dad & mom look forward,
to the changes that may be.
But I know they’ll be great,
we’ll just wait and see.

God has brought you thus far,
not to let you go.
He’ll hold you even closer now,
as His love continues to flow.

So let the birthday fun begin,
all the presents & video games.
So you can thank them all,
don’t mix up the names.

Grandpa & Grandma love you so,
and we wish you the best.
When this day is finally done,
I hope you get some rest.

Happy Birthday Gale!

This poem is dedicated to my wife, Gale.

A while since retirement,
you work harder than ever before.
Always on the go & very little rest,
the Golden Years aren’t around anymore.

Retirement should come earlier in life,
when we have the stamina to achieve.
We have the energy for the grandchildren,
who are energized like the Bunny, I believe.

I pray for you each and every day,
that whatever is wrong, God will fix.
As you gain another year,
and away time still ticks.

God, who is the Giver of Life,
has always had you in His care.
The treasure that you surely are,
makes you unique and very rare.

God has blessed you over time,
with more than 60 years of life.
For forty-five of those years,
I’ve been blessed with you in my life.

I want more than anything,
for you to be happy.
As you celebrate this joyous day,
and have a great fond memory.

So again, my dear, this day is yours,
to spend it as you please.
Do something you really enjoy,
and spend this day in ease.

Happy Birthday from all of us,
may this be a most blessed day.
May you have many, many, more,
and may you celebrate it your way.

Happy Birthday Katherine!

This poem is dedicated to my granddaughter, Katherine.

Katherine is having a birthday,
and that is really cool.
Before you know it,
she’ll be starting school.

But before that happens,
we’ll have some birthday fun.
Candy, treats, ice cream, & cake,
a pinata, and more until we’re done.

Because birthdays are very exciting,
I have something very special to share.
Besides presents and lots of love,
a giant cupcake, because I care.

We’ll share this wonderful day,
with this very special girl.
Flopsy Rabbit, Mopsy, & Cottontail,
I’m not sure, but she’s a pearl.

She never lets me out of the house,
without her huggy-wuggies.
Something special for both of us,
to share and make fond memories.

I know for sure,
when this day is through,
I’ll be more tired,
I’m sure than you.

So enjoy your birthday while it’s here,
it only lasts for a day.
You’re next birthday is not to far,
and you’re already on the way.

Happy Birthday Sammy!

This poem is dedicated to my grandson, Samuel.

God’s blessing for you I pray,
my love for you will never let go.
Another year older today,
Happy Birthday, I echo & echo.

You’ve gone through so much,
in one year of living.
Praying always for God’s touch,
parents & grandparents loving & giving.

Times are better, as this year is done,
let us really enjoy this day.
Make it happy and full of fun,
birthdays are to be that way.

Birthdays come, one after the other,
and each one makes you older.
Just ask your sister & brother,
the birthday present holders.

You don’t have to fret,
they will help you play.
With all the presents you get,
they’ll put fun in every day.

So enjoy your special day,
as it is shared with everyone.
Tomorrow you’ll be on your way,
to the next number- and even more fun.

Happy Birthday Jared!

This poem is dedicated to my grandson, Jared.

I knew a wee little man once,
and I remember that he was 3+2.
He had so much energy,
there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do.

He travels around the country now,
and he’ll stop for a geography bee.
And before you know it, he’s off again,
you’ll find him on TV!

He packed a lot of living,
in all his years alive.
His future is planned, big and bright,
and in his state, he can drive!

I have a clock in my kitchen,
that doesn’t do an hourly chime.
But, instead it reminds me,
“Grandma & Grandpa, I love you all the time!”

TV has given him an opportunity,
to share what he does fine.
And if you check out Here Comes the Shrink,
you’ll find what else is on his mind.

He has me write a poem for every holiday,
he posts my poems when right.
So now here’s one for his birthday,
good from morning to night.

We are so proud of all he’s done,
in just a few short years of living.
We look to what the future holds,
as he continues sharing & giving.
