Hearing God

God gives talent,
to each and every one.
To be used for glory,
and lead to His Son.

When God speaks to us,
we must have an attentive ear.
Because, through the Holy Spirit,
it’s a still, small Voice we hear.

When we spend the time with Him,
we only recognize God’s Voice.
Because time with God is so important,
it’s up to us to make that choice.

We must invest much time and prayer,
but not asking what we think we need.
The main point is getting to know our Father,
and grow what He planted inside- the Seed.

The more time we spend in our presence,
the better we will know and hear Him.
It will make our light so much brighter,
and never worry about growing dim.

If we want to follow Jesus,
we must listen carefully for His Voice.
When we hear, He knows us, and we follow,
but me must make that choice.

Jesus lived by what the Father Said and Did,
that’s the ministry to share with our brothers.
“Come to Me so I can be to you,
what I was in the past others.”

Without knowing God and hearing His Voice,
many of his promises are not ours to hold.
We must accept God and know God,
someday we’ll walk on streets of gold.

God is not known by our works,
but by reading, praying and listening.
Time spent in fellowship with God,
will bring us life everlasting.

The Spirit Living In Me

Inspired by the MercyMe song, “Greater.

The same Spirit that lives in Jesus,
is the Spirit living in me.
There is nothing I can’t do,
and nothing I can’t be.

I can do all things,
through Christ, Who strengthens me.
He has paid all of my debt,
and forever set me free.

I am the head,
and not the tail.
Jesus says, “Abide in Me,
and you will never fail.”

He is solid Rock,
on which I stand.
All other ground,
is sinking sand.

He is my Savior,
He’s ever so near.
He erases doubt,
and casts out fear.

He makes the darkness,
ever so bright.
And through Him,
I share the Light.

He makes me succeed,
and fills my destiny.
Because praise and worship,
are the heavenly key.

He forgives me daily,
and removes my sin.
And because of Jesus,
I am guaranteed to win.

So surrender your life,
and live in His love.
And one day, go Home,
to heaven above.

Why Man?

When God created man,
he was made in God’s Own Image.
He gave him all he’d need in life,
there in the garden, including a wife.

He gave him all knowledge,
and his freedom of choice.
He lacked little in power and wealth,
he even had reign over Satan himself.

Adam gave every animal its name,
plant and tree, and every fruit.
It’s hard to comprehend all Adam could do,
far more I’m sure, than both me and you.

He tended the garden in Paradise,
the place one day we’ll finally see.
God walked and talked with Adam daily,
as God and man were in unity.

But one day Adam negated his power,
and did not put Satan under his feet.
Thus, a breach was now caused by man,
but thank God He had a Sovereign Plan.

God did sacrifice His Own Son,
so man could receive his true destiny.
By Jesus’ blood and the cross,
the debt was paid that covered our loss.

The choice is ours to accept this gift,
and return to fellowship with God.
We have the choice- it’s our free will,
the doors have been opened and Jesus paid the bill.

So the question is asked of you,
the world or Jesus, the Son of God?
Who will you choose this day?
Choose Jesus, He’s the Truth, the Light, and the Way.

Happy 16th Anniversary!

Sixteen seems like a small number,
but what does it stand for?
It means the years of sharing life,
and a future of so much more.

As two people grow in the Lord,
and share their life together.
They grow and face every day,
no matter the storm or weather.

God blesses the family unit,
He designed it that way to be.
Structured by Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
God’s family, Blessed Trinity.

Father and Mother,
united for life.
God’s loving children,
as husband and wife.

Teaching their children,
to grow and see.
The blessings in store,
God wants them to be.

So with God’s love,
as our anchor and guide.
We surrender our life,
and let God decide.

May God bless you both,
in wisdom and truth.
And be examples as parents,
as God’s living proof!

Unlock Your Hotel

Your heart is more than an organ,
it is a place of residence.
If you want it to be strong,
you must ask for repentance.

Your heart has many chambers,
like the rooms of a hotel.
Every room needs a cleaning,
and to replace the sin as well.

You don’t actually clean the rooms,
our job is to seek and ask.
The Holy Spirit is fully able,
to clean and complete the task.

When Jesus comes in to fill our heart,
every bit of sin must go.
Jesus Christ is a Holy God,
so you know it must be so.

So as He cleans, room by room,
we give up our sinful traits.
We cleanse our heart and mind,
and now look forward to heaven’s pearly gates.

As each room is being cleaned,
our nature still causes us to sin.
But on that day of final judgement,
you entered the race and ran to win.

Once the room is finally cleaned,
it is time for your decision.
You can change the name of the room,
and make it a Room of Vision.

Next, another room is cleaned,
opened and wiped of judgement.
A new name is again applied,
and is now the Room of Achievement.

Third room cleaned,
was truly a mess.
No longer so,
now the Room of Success.

With God doing the work in our hotel,
and living in residence.
We now change another room,
to the Room of Excellence.

The work is far from finished,
but it must be done room by room.
Continue to surrender your heart each day,
and let God control the broom.

Easter 2016: The Son-Rise

Death is final,
for both you and I.
And people gather,
for a last good-bye.

But there is a future,
for us to hold.
And it leads us,
to streets of gold.

The price was paid,
and debt wiped clean.
The future enables us,
to hope and dream.

The grave is conquered,
the stone is rolled away.
In a tomb,
He did not stay.

He’s given us life,
what we couldn’t do.
Paid the price,
to make everything new.

He destroyed the bondage,
of death and hell.
And opened the door,
of our hopeless cell.

What more could we ask?
He has done it all!
We have a choice,
just answer His call.

He wants to live,
within our heart.
Clean out the junk,
and set us apart.

So invite Him in,
renew life today.
With Jesus in your heart,
you’ve now found the Way.

Open the hotel,
and give Him the keys.
He’ll clean every room,
and do it with ease.

The Christian at Midlife

This poem was originally composed on November 9, 1985.

We reach a point in life,
when it is time to turn and look.
What does the future hold?
The past is a closed book.

We try to face each new day,
and find our answer for life.
Why Lord, am I where I am,
in all of midlife’s strife?

I thought I knew all the answers,
knew exactly which way to go.
I find my life in turmoil,
dreams and demands tossing to and fro.

Life seems so unfair,
when I’ve tried so hard to succeed.
But Lord, I forgot in my stop at Calvary,
to take the time to bleed.

I’d tried to find someone to care,
to see and really understand.
I expect an instant life of success,
by putting my life in your hand.

I’ve become so disappointed,
I’m ready to walk away.
But still, a little voice reminds me,
“Your time is not today.”

I know in man I can not trust,
Lord, dear Lord, please draw me near.
I’ve tried this life in my own way,
Lord. it has become a life of fear.

I’ve finally realized you love me so,
of this I do not doubt.
Lord, dear Lord, I ask you please,
help me work this crisis out.

Lord, as I lift my hands in praise,
reach to me from heaven above.
Pick me up and cradle me,
in Thy tender and precious love.

Another day has come to dawn,
rejoice and be glad in it.
In God’s scheme of life,
He’s got a place for us to fit.

Even in our darkest hour,
or the gloom of night.
We’re held within his tender Hands,
and given a perfect light.

So, even when the day starts wrong,
and Satan starts assail.
Remember in Whose Hands we are,
His promises never fail.

Remember the victories already won,
we have no cause to doubt.
We stand upon the solid rock,
Jesus will work it out.
