Father’s Day: My Heavenly Father

I know that I’d never win,
an award for father of the year,
because when it came to that,
I turned and ran in fear.

Just the thoughts about responsibilities,
and decisions about right & wrong,
made me wonder if this part of life,
is truly where I might belong.

I don’t know all the answers,
and have not wisdom to guide.
Unless it’s my Heavenly Father,
in whom I trust and abide.

God, the Creator of all Life,
has placed a child into my care.
I’m not alone in all I do,
I have a wife with whom I share.

When we honor our father,
we honor our one on Earth.
We thank him for being there,
as we begin to live from birth.

He is limited in what he can do,
unless He’s made the Choice.
He serves our Father up in Heaven,
through prayer and a worshiping voice.

God, the Father, is watching us,
and only He is always there.
From our first step to our last,
we are never out of His care.

God wants only the best for us,
and truly, our earthly father may.
But only God is perfect in everything,
and never changes from day to day.

So when we put our trust in Him,
and let Him be our only Source.
Our ship might hit some times of storm,
but it will never be knocked off course.

So Father, I thank you for every prayer,
offered up for me each and every night.
Because now my life is different,
I walk with my Father in light.

Even though you’ve made mistakes,
in decisions you have had to do.
I’m so glad that I am able,
to wish Happy Father’s Day to You!

Float on Like a Fog

Sometimes life just seems to go by,
and I don’t feel like I belong.
I float on by as if in a fog,
in the meaningfulness of life, I drift along.

I hear conversations, but fail to listen,
and comprehend what is being said.
I’m full of questions, that I am told,
but react as if my brain is dead.

I listen, but it doesn’t register,
and all that is said, I only hear.
But somehow, and I don’t know,
it never gets past my ear.

I ask question upon question,
about answers I should already know.
But it really doesn’t help me,
I’m stuck at the start, never hearing go.

The doctor says a physical test,
will give the answer as to why.
But I’m not so sure of that,
I take the test and finish high.

I battle just like everyone,
many points of life.
I need to be a doctor,
and remove them with a knife.

But the real way to change,
is not being a doctor.
I consider my walk with God,
as the main contributing factor.

But since God created us beings,
and supplied all we’d need.
Maybe it is a deficiency intake,
I’ll look up the nutrients and read.

Everything that God provides,
never has any lack.
All the ingredients are in the Book,
Genesis to Revelation, front to back.

Words of life for body and soul,
I need to begin to digest.
For without His Word in my life,
I will never find a rest.

Our walk is so important,
looking forward to our heavenly home.
Eternity is in the balance,
the choice is ours alone.

True Love

Oh how I believe in you,
and care and pray for you daily.
Asking the Lord in all that you do,
for wisdom, direction, and ability.

In His sight you are so precious,
His embrace is always there.
In any situation, however serious,
remembering you’re in His care.

Love that travels mile after mile,
may start as a frown but end as a smile.
Why this is so I am not sure,
but I know this is love true & pure.

And this is the love I send your way,
to brighten your world day by day.
So when you’re down and need some cheer,
remember and read what is written here.

I may not always tell you I care,
or thank you for the life we share.
I’m always short on words to say,
but I love you more, day by day.

I may not take you where you like to go,
especially the concert where I had to say no.
I miss you so when I’m away,
but I love you more, day by day.

You travel with me in my heart,
every day while we’re apart.
In all I do and in every way,
I love you more, day by day.

The family we have is because of you,
all you give and all you do.
I thank you greatly, if I may,
I love you more day by day.

Weekends work will be a tedious one,
and I’m sure we won’t have very much fun.
But we’ll go to dinner, if you pay,
I love you more, day by day.

The Glorious Appearing

Brethren be of good cheer,
the day of his coming is drawing near.
He’s waiting and waiting patiently,
to draw us home for eternity.

We listen intently for the glorious shout,
when the Father sends Jesus to call us out.
So be ready at His appearing, whenever it may be,
at last we will be united as God’s family.

Rejoice in His glory which we shall behold,
as we walk those heavenly streets of gold.
And we know that this fleeting life is complete,
as we stroll with our Lord in His heavenly retreat.

Memorial Day: The Last Monday in May

A day of tribute, honor, & prayer,
to all those who left something there.
Not only those who gave it all,
but also those who saw one fall.

Those who were there and lost a friend,
have a memory that will never end.
Not only today, but everyday,
they take time to stop and pray.

War is tragedy that you can’t explain,
nobody knows who is to blame.
The price we pay is way too high,
especially when we say good-bye.

Nobody in war ever dies alone,
on the field, or here at home.
The military knocks at your door,
“I’m sorry, another casualty of war.”

What will ever pay the cost,
for the family that has suffered loss.
When all is given for this nation,
will a medal or citation.

The scars of war are not on the skin,
instead, the heart buried deep within.
Nothing anyone wants to talks about,
never able to pour it out.

We’re never the same as before,
for war cripples our very core.
We may come back in on piece,
but our memories will never cease.

So, for this Monday in the month of May,
take time to reflect and time to pray.
Remembering those who answered freedom’s call,
all gave some, some gave all.

Yet, in the midst of all this despair,
when the world is so unfair.
I find hope for life in only One,
and that is God’s very Son.

He’s the One who cares for me,
without Him, I wouldn’t be.
There’s nothing greater than His Grace,
He’s always there, whatever I face.

So trust Him in all you do,
He will always see you through.
He’ll never allow what you can’t bear,
He’ll shelter you in His Loving Care.

(This poem was originally published in 2014, but due to its popularity, we brought it back this year.)

Faith Is Alive

God’s not dead,
He’s on His throne.
He’s in control,
time’s His Own.

The world seems dark and scary,
and all hope seems lost.
But if you consider,
God has counted cost.

He gave His one and only Son,
as a ransom for all who choose.
And only God can guarantee,
He will never lose.

His plan for this world is perfect,
it’s His from beginning to end.
The road is straight and narrow,
it never has a bend.

God can turn for good,
something that is the worst.
Just as He takes the last,
and makes the last first.

God the Father and God the Son,
God the Holy Ghost.
The Three in One- the Trinity,
praised by the Heavenly Host.

God listens to every word,
that we ever utter.
And knows what’s best for us,
for every sister and brother.

When we come to God in prayer,
He knows our very voice.
He knows our wants from our needs,
and if we have made the Choice.

God still listens when we ask,
because God is always love.
God is no respecter of persons,
He still rains Mercy from Above.

When we accept Jesus Christ,
to love and to serve.
God opens the windows of Heaven,
and holds nothing in reserve.

It gives God joy in His Heart,
to give blessings to His children.
And the blessings continue on,
generation to generation.

Happy Mothers Day!

To the Mother of our two children,
both mothers of their own.
May the joys of motherhood always bring,
peace & love so you’re never alone.

What a treasure is each blessed gift,
coming down from the Father above.
Trusted by the One that knows your heart,
to nurture, care, & raise with love.

Every Mother is special & unique,
and equipped with a different trait.
God chose you because He knows you best,
and knows you are a Mother with faith.

You allow the Holy Spirit to flow,
you faithfully lift your children in prayer.
Everything they face in life,
you always try to be there.

You cared for family in more ways than one,
a loving mother & devoted wife.
You gave to everyone: so, so much,
putting family first in your life.

So for this Mothers Day,
may God bless and honor you.
Reward your heart of faithfulness,
in everything you do.
