Happy 47th!

To my wife, on our 47th wedding anniversary.

The Lord was gracious,
right from the start.
When He made you, the woman,
to fill my heart.

He knew I couldn’t be,
out on my own.
But needed a godly woman,
to fill my earthly home.

I needed a help-mate,
to share the burden of life.
Encouragement and godly wisdom,
stored up within my wife.

Through the good times and the bad,
I haven’t always been there.
But it always was so difficult,
when it came time to share.

But through it all, I’ll have you know,
I wouldn’t change a thing.
If I was asked to do it all over,
I’d still offer you my ring.

So take heart, my dear, and cherish this thought,
I’m not all that I need to be.
But always remember, I’ll never give up,
because God’s still working on me.

MOTHER

Manages life from the moment of birth,
preparing the child for a life of self-worth.
She has a bond that took nine months to grow,
and every need in life, she will know.

Opens the world to this new child of life,
with godly examples of husband and wife.
This union is made in God’s own design,
with love and care that will never resign.

Trust is a trait that’s high on the chart,
it’s your character speaking from your heart.
It’s learned and grows, speaking about you,
it’s your word and truth in all that you do.

Heart is the center of your very being,
it’s what you speak and what people are seeing.
Your heart is always bound in what you treasure,
and your mom’s devotion is surely a pleasure.

Explains the challenges and issues you’ll face,
teaches you God’s love and amazing grace.
Explains about God and teaches you prayer,
shows you that God is faithful and always there.

Respect is a quality you need to sow,
your honor and word help it to grow.
When your word comes forth, straight and true,
respect will follow in all that you do.

Happy Birthday Sammy!

This poem is in honor of my grandson, Samuel, whose 3rd birthday is this week.

Sammy, Sammy,
Mom and Dad’s little man.
God loves you,
and has a plan.

There isn’t a life,
that He doesn’t hold.
All that happens,
He turns to gold.

You had a destiny,
before you were born.
And God directs each day,
it’s new every morn.

He cares and holds,
you in His Heart.
And with each day,
a brand new start.

I see a future,
with promise so true.
As He blesses the life,
He has created for you.

You have a life,
that will never end.
He’s your Savior,
Brother, and Friend.

Sammy, you are getting bigger,
day by day.
And your birthday is less,
than a week away.

We’ve counted every one,
and now you will be:
One plus one plus one,
so now you are three.

So happy birthday Sammy,
you are no longer two.
Grandma and Grandpa,
wish the best for you.

Why Man?

When God created man,
he was made in God’s Own Image.
He gave him all he’d need in life,
there in the garden, including a wife.

He gave him all knowledge,
and his freedom of choice.
He lacked little in power and wealth,
he even had reign over Satan himself.

Adam gave every animal its name,
plant and tree, and every fruit.
It’s hard to comprehend all Adam could do,
far more I’m sure, than both me and you.

He tended the garden in Paradise,
the place one day we’ll finally see.
God walked and talked with Adam daily,
as God and man were in unity.

But one day Adam negated his power,
and did not put Satan under his feet.
Thus, a breach was now caused by man,
but thank God He had a Sovereign Plan.

God did sacrifice His Own Son,
so man could receive his true destiny.
By Jesus’ blood and the cross,
the debt was paid that covered our loss.

The choice is ours to accept this gift,
and return to fellowship with God.
We have the choice- it’s our free will,
the doors have been opened and Jesus paid the bill.

So the question is asked of you,
the world or Jesus, the Son of God?
Who will you choose this day?
Choose Jesus, He’s the Truth, the Light, and the Way.

Happy 16th Anniversary!

Sixteen seems like a small number,
but what does it stand for?
It means the years of sharing life,
and a future of so much more.

As two people grow in the Lord,
and share their life together.
They grow and face every day,
no matter the storm or weather.

God blesses the family unit,
He designed it that way to be.
Structured by Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
God’s family, Blessed Trinity.

Father and Mother,
united for life.
God’s loving children,
as husband and wife.

Teaching their children,
to grow and see.
The blessings in store,
God wants them to be.

So with God’s love,
as our anchor and guide.
We surrender our life,
and let God decide.

May God bless you both,
in wisdom and truth.
And be examples as parents,
as God’s living proof!

Unlock Your Hotel

Your heart is more than an organ,
it is a place of residence.
If you want it to be strong,
you must ask for repentance.

Your heart has many chambers,
like the rooms of a hotel.
Every room needs a cleaning,
and to replace the sin as well.

You don’t actually clean the rooms,
our job is to seek and ask.
The Holy Spirit is fully able,
to clean and complete the task.

When Jesus comes in to fill our heart,
every bit of sin must go.
Jesus Christ is a Holy God,
so you know it must be so.

So as He cleans, room by room,
we give up our sinful traits.
We cleanse our heart and mind,
and now look forward to heaven’s pearly gates.

As each room is being cleaned,
our nature still causes us to sin.
But on that day of final judgement,
you entered the race and ran to win.

Once the room is finally cleaned,
it is time for your decision.
You can change the name of the room,
and make it a Room of Vision.

Next, another room is cleaned,
opened and wiped of judgement.
A new name is again applied,
and is now the Room of Achievement.

Third room cleaned,
was truly a mess.
No longer so,
now the Room of Success.

With God doing the work in our hotel,
and living in residence.
We now change another room,
to the Room of Excellence.

The work is far from finished,
but it must be done room by room.
Continue to surrender your heart each day,
and let God control the broom.

Opening Day

April through October are months of joy,
when men chase after a stitched-up toy.
Bats, gloves, uniforms, and gear galore,
make up what is now called baseball lore.

Baseball hasn’t changed much from its start,
but has grown enormously in mans heart.
Still played inning by inning,
just as it was in the beginning.

Catchers used to play without a mask,
and that was truly an enormous task.
Protection was not a primary concern,
when baseball was becoming a game to learn.

Equipment has improved over the years,
but today a fastball can stir some fears.
Rules have changed to accommodate the game,
but the best of the best can still have fame.

Power, defense, offense, or pitching stats,
each talent counts more than just at-bats.
Specialists come in for just one out,
managers confident without a doubt.

I think the hitters of days gone by,
were better hitters with a keener eye.
No AstroTurf or manicured field,
no hindsight or re-run reels.

Not just baseball, but all sports we play,
have become a part of the modern day.
Computers and technology have become mainstream,
and sports in the living room is everyone’s dream.

So everyone who has a baseball bat,
can also wear his team’s favorite hat.
Baseball belongs as part of it all,
as the umpire yells, “Play ball!”
