Veterans Day: Salute to Our Soldiers

A time to honor,
Veteran’s Day pride and true.
For all who fought,
for the Red, White, & Blue.

A time to remember,
a time to care.
A time to thank God,
we came home from there.

War just goes on & on,
I wonder if it will ever cease.
And all over soldiers are safe and sound,
and the world would be at peace.

But peace can only come for man,
when we let God be in control.
And blend our heart & mind in Him,
and His angels on patrol.

God, the only true and lasting One,
Who is never wrong in anything.
He is perfection, peace, and love,
after all, He is God & King.

Riverside Rediscovered

This poem is about the planned revitalization of Riverhead and Riverside, towns on the Eastern End of New York’s Long Island. An excerpt of this poem was featured in the Riverhead News-Review, a local newspaper, on October 19.

Trying to change the town,
can be a trying task.
Changes needing to be made,
bring many questions to ask.

Where do you start,
who is put in charge?
Be the change small,
or be the change large.

Traffic, no doubt,
will need some work.
Stores will open,
giving the town a perk.

Will people see the vision,
when you explain it to them?
Will they gather ’round and give a hand,
and create a shining gem?

Riverside will be changing,
ask yourself what you can do.
Because it is a long process,
and can’t be done by just a few.

The plans on paper look good,
and the overall vision has begun.
My picture of the future,
sees it all in place, the job done.

Many will come to see,
the changes put in place.
The new buildings and attractions,
that will change Riverside’s face.

All the nearby towns,
will wane as they compare.
They’ll see the new life it brings,
and wish it had been there.

So get ready and roll up your sleeves,
there is lots more work to be done.
Contractors galore will invade us,
and Riverside will shine, bar none.

About Me

Sometimes people don’t understand,
what I’m all about.
They just don’t take the time,
to try and figure it out.

I have a very loving heart,
and forgiveness is always free.
I just don’t hold a grudge,
that’s the finer side of Me.

The key to knowing Me,
is found in the Book.
Just open It up,
and take a look.

I give love and joy,
that gives you strength.
And I never fail,
to go the length.

I give peace,
that surpasses understanding.
I give goodness,
that is never ending.

I Am faithful,
from beginning to end.
I Am closer to you,
than your best friend.

I Am gracious in,
the glory of My goodness.
I Am ever merciful,
in my spirit of gentleness.

Concerning the Lord’s promise,
He is long suffering towards us.
In His promise to the meek,
they shall inherit the Earth, plus.

My patience will never run out,
it is forever long and lasting.
Let patience have her perfect work,
it is sufficient for all time’s passing.

So come and get to know Me,
I will never let you down.
I’ll fill your life with laughter,
and take away the frowns.

I Will Follow

My God is sufficient,
for all of my needs.
And I will follow,
wherever He leads.

He holds me securely,
in the palm of His Hand.
And I have no worry,
His footprints are in the sand.

In times of storm,
He shelters me.
In the cleft of the rock,
we have security.

He is powerful,
strong in His might.
His yoke is easy,
His burden is light.

We have no doubt,
He is always there.
And in His timing,
He answers our prayer.

God is gracious,
in His love for you and me.
After all that He’s done,
giving His life on Cavalry.

God gives us grace,
from Satan’s attack.
March on in the battle,
He has our back.

God also gives us His Spirit,
His fruits help us abide.
And all of God’s resources,
stand ready at our side.

So look to the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit,
the blessed Trinity.
If you surrender your heart,
you’ll have eternity.

A Child’s Prayer

“Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.”

The prayer of a little child,
so tender, meek, and mild.
Asking for love and assurance,
trusting the Lord in reverence.

A time of life, so simple,
yet it sets a good example.
The start of a life of prayer,
to the Father that does care.

With our foundations set in stone,
we know we’ll never be alone.
He’ll walk with us, hand in hand,
and carry us, when needed, in the sand.

We’ll grow more day by day,
as we continue to live and pray.
Longing one day to leave this place,
and finally see Jesus, face to face.

On that day, how glorious it’ll be,
as we continue to celebrate eternity.
From a little child-like prayer,
and now we’re finally there.

We’ll walk those streets of gold,
hear and see, all we’ve been told.
To the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
all in praise with the Heavenly Host.

Step Out and Be Bold

The years have been many,
and the task very great.
The accomplishments, a reward,
that God did create.

Your knowledge and talent,
have come only from Him.
He’s walked alongside you,
and caused you to win.

He has destined this day,
so long, long ago.
In the overall plan,
that only He does know.

Where it will take you,
is not at all clear.
But with Him in control,
you can walk without fear.

Put your hands in His,
step out and be bold.
Do all for God’s glory,
and you’ll attain your goal.

He’ll never leave or forsake you,
eternally in His care.
To God be the glory,
for always being there.

Much richness and blessing,
may He bestow upon you.
Wherever He leads,
and all that you do.

39 Is Fine: A Prequel to 40

This poem is dedicated to my daughter, Deanna, who celebrates her 39th birthday this week.

The year before big changes,
and the big 40 appears.
This is the last of easy,
now you start counting the years.

They say life becomes different,
and your body and mind disagree.
But this is just twenty years of practice,
’til your body turns sixty.

But we know age is just a number,
so enjoy the pleasures of this year.
As you continue to grow in God,
and ring out happy birthday cheer.

I’m so proud of all you’ve done,
at this stage of life.
A mother and nurse,
and a devoted wife.

I hope you enjoy your special day,
and may each day ring clear.
May you celebrate your birthday,
every day this coming year.
